WHAT WE DO
At NYSMTA District 4, our goal is to provide a steady stream of musical opportunities for students to strive for. We hope to nurture all types of interests, from those students who are very serious musicians and will likely continue their musical pursuit after high school, to students who just love music and enjoy playing.
We offer performing and educational opportunities for students throughout the school year. Students may participate in a variety of performance events ranging from traditional recitals; to auditions and competitions, where they receive feedback from adjudicators. Along with this, a musicianship festival is held every year focusing on the theory of music. There is a composition component as well, allowing interested students to delve into that realm and explore their personal expression. For teachers of district 4, there are educational presentations and lectures during the year.
