WHO ARE WE
New York State Music Teachers Association (NYSMTA) District 4 is a local chapter of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), including all instrumental and voice teachers, whose mission is to advance the value of music study and music making to society and to support the professionalism of music teachers.
District 4 represents Westchester, Rockland and Putnam Counties and is run by music teachers who are dedicated to music education.

At NYSMTA District 4, our goal is to provide a steady stream of music opportunities for students. We hope to nurture all types of interests, from those students who are very serious musicians and will likely continue their musical pursuit after high school, to students who just love music and enjoy playing.
We offer performing and educational opportunities for students throughout the school year. Students may participate in a variety of performance events including:
Recitals throughout the year
Adjudicated auditions and competitions
Musicianship festival (Music Theory)
Composition project
District 4 organizes educational presentations and lectures for its members.
